The Coombe Farm wine brand was established in 2002 with the ‘Farm’ cellar door opening in 2007, quickly establishing itself as one of the most popular in the Valley.

Our cellar door at Coombe Yarra Valley sits stylishly alongside the Restaurant, Providore and Gallery.

The cellar door at Coombe Yarra Valley is open from 10am-5pm, Wednesday - Sunday. 

Tasting fee is $5 per person, which is redeemable on any full price wine bottle purchases.

Wines

Coombe Farm wines are classically varietal and regionally expressive. Handcrafted in very small volumes, our wines are made from the best estate grown fruit our vineyard has to offer. All Coombe Farm wines are produced entirely from fruit grown in the estate vineyards.

The first wine made under the Coombe Farm label was a Pinot Noir in 2002. Since then the range has developed into a small yet comprehensive display of both the traditional and alternative varieties that Coombe Farm and the Yarra Valley do best.

Estate range

Coombe Farm’s Estate range are produced from grapes selected each year as the best the estate has to offer. Varieties include regional specialties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, as well as the very popular Pinot Gris and newly planted Shiraz. Wines are hand picked and handcrafted in small batches and where oak is used for fermentation or maturation, only the finest is sourced.

Tribute range

Our Tribute wines, named to honour the legacy of our forefathers are made only in the best vintages and blended only from the best barrels and wine batches.

 

 

 

Providore

Located in the historic stables, the Providore offers seasonal estate-grown, house-made produce and stylish Melba mementoes.

The Providore stocks a range of delicious, seasonal preserves and produce that accompany the restaurant menu and are available to take home and enjoy. Fruit and vegetables, plants, flowers, bulbs, eggs and other delights fresh ‘from the farm’ will be available as the season provides.  

Melba was a generous supporter of young artists and musicians and in keeping with that tradition our Providore stocks and promotes the wares of unique and independent producers.  

 

Potter Janna Ferris creates unique Margaret Preston inspired tableware for us and Hampson Homewares provides truly covetable hand-made Melba themed cushions.

 


Our knowledge of the Yarra Valley and depth of winemaking experience ensures that each Coombe Farm wine is the best the season can deliver.

Viticulturalist and Vineyard Manager

XAVIER MENDE

Xavier has overseen and tended the vineyards of Coombe Farm since they were planted in 1998 and it has been said that he ‘knows almost all his vines by name’.

Xavier has gained a wealth of experience working in wineries and vineyards all over Australia and has a great understanding of the nuances of both the Coombe Farm site and the Yarra Valley.

He is highly regarded by all the winemakers with whom he deals and is an integral part of Coombe Farm viticultural and winemaking operations.
